Sherm Edwards learned the confectionery trade in the late 1940’s when he joined a family business that had been making quality chocolates since the early twentieth century. Sherm ventured out on his own in 1972 with Edwards Candies on the North Side of Pittsburgh. In 1977 Sherm and Dorothy purchased the old McBride Movie Theatre in Trafford, renovated it and opened for business as Sherm Edwards Candies on December 8, 1978. David came on board in 1983 and opened our second store in Monroeville in 1994.

Sherm Edwards Candies is primarily a retail business, but we also sell to wholesale customers and have fundraising programs. Wholesaling is about 25% of our business and our fundraising program is very unique in the area. Groups and organizations do their fundraising with gift certificates that can be redeemed in any one of our two stores.

At the factory in Trafford, David creates the creams, caramels, meltaways and other delicious confections. The centers are coated with chocolate and packed in boxes. Once you taste our unique blend of chocolate it will become the standard by which you will judge all chocolates. We have three enrobing lines to coat the centers in milk, dark or white chocolate. We also have a molding department and we stock up to 300 different kinds of chocolate novelties in our stores. We also create custom molds.
